Surprise. You set a metric to be reached with the consequence of losing your job if you don't, so people will figure out ways to reach the metric, no matter what.

Hm? On first read it sounds like they're inventing tasks for the AI but is that what's happening? They're automating "unnecessary" tasks sounds like it's working as intended?

It also describes solution looking for a problem, which isn’t a great sign for the solution.

Either Amazon don’t know that reward systems reward only the things they were set up for, or Amazon is looking for ways to pump numbers up for the investors. Neither reflects well on the technology.
