No real reason to want to other than somebody needs to do it.
I got a psych degree if that matters, but most of moderation is just keeping things civil, you don't need to be a SME or need to know how to use "tools".
This person has posted in our community a few times and I can vouch that they appear to have the maturity to be a decent mod for a place like this.
