Having the animated montage on the TV is really effective lol

Weirdly despite all the straight romance that was forced on me growing up, I still ended up gay :3

Must have been that one scene that somehow slipped through.

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It was that song LeFou sang about Gaston. LeFou was thirsting.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

You can ask any Tom, Dick, or Stanley

And they'll tell you whose dick they prefer to be on!

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 10 points 2 months ago

Same! Very strange that. It's almost like the indoctrination doesn't work that well.

Almost like, we're born a certain way?

I didn't choose the 🐓, the 🐓 chose me

[–] OmegaMouse@pawb.social 4 points 2 months ago

I guess so! So parents showing their children content with gay relationships will have no effect on them besides making them more tolerant and accepting

Though no doubt sadly that's something certain parents would rather avoid :(

Meanwhile me, picking things to watch with my kid: this lineup is looking a bit too straight, let's mix in some Owl House...

[–] Ryudos@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Owl House is so adorable!

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Let’s not forget Steven universe. Super space lesbians!

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 6 points 2 months ago

That was one of the first serie that I watched all the way through with my kid, pretty much right after Adventure Time. My parenting style is: make myself jealous of my kid's childhood. So far it seems to be working.

This mama is ready for some trauma

[–] 48954246@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ha, found you in the wild! And talking about Owl House no less 😁

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hey, when Dana Terrace makes more shows I'll have more things to talk about. Have you seen the Knights of Guinevere pilot?

[–] 48954246@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yep, at least 5 times by now. You see that the season has been greenlit? I'm so excited

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 6 points 2 months ago

I kinda want to rewatch it, just soak it in. We're going to be eating so good when glitch gets its 2D animation pipeline dialed in - if it hasn't already. 🥳

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 6 points 2 months ago

Oh that looks fun! Appropriate timing for my older kid too

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Paranorman is such a good movie, depriving a kid of it because of your stupid religion is just pathetic.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 months ago (3 children)

If it was only religious beliefs. A lot, if not most, are homophobic without ever thinking about their "religion".

[–] RamenJunkie@midwest.social 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The vast majority of homophobia has religious roots though. Even if the current iteration the person isexpressing isn't explicitly so. It'll be some childhood bull shit like their religious parents telling them Para-Norman is an evil movie, and they don't even realize its the cause later in life.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Religious roots or religious "justification"? Like they don't seem to put as much importance on other things their religion says is important, like the commandments about lying or being envious of their neighbours or most of what their religion's namesake said, who was pretty clear that punishing sinners isn't supposed to be a duty of his followers.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The only people who told me as a child that I was going to hell for not disowning my lesbian parents were “christian”…

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

I have a nice spot reserved for me right by the lake of fire, bring your parents and beer, burgers, weed, or whatever you are into. It's gunna be a party, I'll provide the sunscreen.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 months ago

Bruv...hell's where all the cool people are at.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is specifically religious they are refrencing a bible verse directly on her shirt.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

100%. I'm just saying that Ibwishbit was only religious. Homophobia is definitely not contained to religious zealots.

[–] baltakatei@sopuli.xyz 11 points 2 months ago

Furry lovemaking right in the middle of the heteroromantic parade?

It's essentially just a single line and an out of nowhere head turn over perceived stereotypes. The entire movie does a lot of that actually.
