I like checking on Popular New Releases to see what's trending in a given week, but it just does not do that anymore since a handful of weeks ago. It's showing entries from all the way back in 2020, ones that have – as far as I checked – not even new DLC.

There's several decently sized games I've just not seen launch because the feed is.. broken? It's probably but broken, I assume this is intended, but why.

If you happen to know what's up with this, please do tell. But I mostly just want to complain I guess. I can check my Steam release calendar but that's hidden behind several menus. Sigh.

Are those the most popular games with a Linux client available? Maybe that's the issue.

Mine is not behaving that way. Maybe whatever indexes the searches is broken om your client?

Edit: granted I am at work on my mobile rn

It does look a lot more reasonable when I check it out on my phone, where I am logged in. That's very strange.

You might have hit it right there. Maybe its the login? I wouldn't put that behind corpo not even Valve.

No. Logged in or logged out, on mobile – and as I've found now desktop browser – it does look fine.

I think it's something with the client on Linux. My friend, running a different distro, also has the strangely old list. When I check Top Sellers I see Euro Truck and some others in the client, CoD and Crimson Desert on the website.

Maybe it's got something to do with Steam Deck Verified status? Yet ProtonDB lists Crimson Desert as Gold, so even if it wasn't Deck verified I would like to be able to see it. The only toggle I was able to find was "show only games available on platform Windows/MacOS/Linux", none of which I have selected.

Whatever it is, it seems to be something with the Linux client.

Its probably an issue specific to linux desktop clients. You could report the issue to Steam support. At this rate it doesn't sound like something the user can fix.

Edit: is it a flatpack? Or did you install it through your package manager?

Not flatpak (in my case). I'm using Steam in the default way CachyOS installs it, and I'm not sure how that is.

My friend is on Bazzite.

Off topic, but this gives me a craving to play Stranded Deep. Fun game.
