TL;DR - it's tuberculosis, which had been on the way to eradication until 2021 when it started resurging in the US and elsewhere probably due to COVID-related healthcare fatigue. In the US cases continue to climb, probably because of poor access to healthcare and the generally poor nature of our healthcare system.
