Yesterday I found Interstellar which has this feature. I assume mainly because it is not only a Lemmy app, but also a PieFed one, which has this feature in the reference frontend (AFAIK).

Are there other Lemmy apps or frontends that support thread merging?

Kbin used to do this, I’m assuming it still does but idk how the development is going

I think Kbin development is either abandoned or stalled. Perhaps Mbin supports the same feature ? https://github.com/MbinOrg/mbin

/kbin indeed is dead, and Mbin does have the same feature.

Though worth noting it's not quite the same as what Piefed has. Piefed combines all posts into one, while Mbin just groups them, but still treats them separately. Still deduplication, but not quite merging.
