KEY POINTS

The U.S. Treasury Department has made clear that Cuba is not allowed to take delivery of Russian crude.

The warning comes at a time when two tankers carrying Russian oil and gas are thought to be on their way to Havana.

The fuel-starved Caribbean island is facing its biggest test since the collapse of the Soviet Union under a U.S. oil blockade.

The US can pound sand. They lifted sanctions on Russian oil for India. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

The US can pound sand.

Isn't that what our military usually does in the middle east? heh

[–] kn33@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago

Oh, good, we haven't had a ship-based Cuban crisis in a while. Surely the diplomacy will be well navigated.

For fuck sake, just let people live their lives. This mother fucker just wants to impose misery around the world

The American version of Christians that rallied behind him are hell bent on demonstrating all the villians from the Bible.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 17 points 1 month ago

Somehow, I don't think Russia cares.

[–] certified_expert@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Dumb question here... Under what grounds a nation can determine what other two nations can/cannot do?

[–] einkorn@feddit.org 26 points 1 month ago

It's called Bigger Gun Diplomacy.

[–] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The "you and what army" protocol. I guess we'll see how that plays out

And why isn't it condemned at UN level?

[–] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 month ago

The UN has been condemning the US embargo on cuba for nearly every session in the past couple decades and it's nearly always only the US and Israel voting against it. But the US has a veto so it never passes...

Here's the latest one

The UN is at its League of Nations stage. Doctors say it's terminal.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Because the big gun also has a veto vote.

[–] middlemanSI@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What a cunt US. Stay in your lane!

This is our hemisphere/continent. We're as touchy about it as Russia is about Europe and parts of Asia.

[–] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 month ago

Leave it to the US to make Russia look like the good guy for selling oil to a starving island.

I assume they are prohibited in the same way my ex prohibited me from getting a new partner?

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, I did have a 6 year relationship after that one. But that ended also. So yes and no? I don't know.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd go with no. Better luck next time 💖

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hehe. There wont be a next time though. :D

I'm not too keen on going through the whole dating thing. If someone arrives at my door and tells me we shall be dating now, I'll consider it. But other than that, I'm not gonna bother at this point lol

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I see we follow the same dating strategy. It didn't really work out for me in the last five years, but I have the feeling that will change any minute now.

What slightly irritates me is that, yeah, for me it's a joke, but that's exactly how it worked out for a friend. She and some friends wanted to go to a party and a friend of the friends decided to join them and rang at her door. They are happily married now.

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Haha. I've completely given up.

To be honest, it's quite freeing. I've always been quite independent, to the annoyance of all my girlfriends. But no need to worry about that anymore.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Some what the same for me, but I miss being loved and to love someone.

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah I mean I don't pretend I don't feel lonely and wanting of affection at times. But I dunno, I'm such a miserable prick anyways, no need to subject anyone to dealing with me on a daily basis :D

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The most difficult part of it is... talking about it makes me seem like an incel :D I always feeli like I need to make it extremely clear that I'm not unhappy, bitter or whatever. Its completely my decision and I'm fine with it. I think there's people who just cant understand or believe that someone might be fine being alone.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Even if, not being fine with it doesn't mean you see others as responsible.

[–] HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

Yup, that too

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

WE FORBODE IT

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We can call it "The Bath of Pigs" after the person who started the crisis who also needs a bath.

[–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

Can't tell if refering to Che Guevera or Diaper Donnie.
