ikr the obvious solution to the current crisis is for Germany to invade France.

No, see, that's the mistake. In 1870 they DIDN'T go via Belgium and they won.

And that's the problem, it didn't become a world war, it just stayed a little spat in Europe. Going through Belgium is a prerequisite for a good war.

I mean Germany is completely supporting this current bombing on Iran and allowing the US to use their bases with no caveats and Merz is completely for it even if he occasionally says it needs to end quickly so they aren't the main actor sure but they are responsible.

Germany is also the 2nd biggest arm supplier of Israel

Wasn't someone in the German state just saying they support US sanctions on Spain for not going along with the Iran war?

No, Merz said he encourages Spain to fulfill their NATO spending targets, but he didn't say anything about supporting an embargo.

He listened as Mr. Trump criticized Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain — “this is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with” — and threatened to cut off all trade ties with Spain as a punitive measure.

Mr. Trump complained at length that Spanish leaders were not spending enough on their military, and that they had not allowed American forces to use their bases to launch attacks on Iran. A reporter asked Mr. Merz his reaction.

“The answer on that is quite simple,” Mr. Merz said. He said Spain needed to increase military spending, in keeping with commitments by Germany, France and other NATO allies to shoulder a larger financial burden for their own defense. (The chancellor did not say whether or not he approved of Mr. Trump’s idea of cutting off trade as punishment)

It was clearly a topic of the discussion. Merz' lack of disapproval and avoidance of answering that question says enough. He's fine with it.
