Which is EXACTLY why we ought stop gaslighting OURSELVES about what democracy actually means.

In actual-democracy, the majority of the citizens ON THAT ISSUE'S VOTE decide.

However, in representative-republic "democracy", some "representatives" are elected, to decide all the issues "on behalf of" the citizenry, until the next election changes who the "representatives" are, who are doing the deciding.

That isn't democracy, at all.

Actual-democracy is MUCH finer-grained.

We've got the technology to make it possible, now, if we wanted to, but won't, obviously, as that'd put power back down into the people.

That is completely-orthogonal to the issue of responsible-to-vote, obviously..

The passengers on an airliner outnumber the flight-deck pilots, massively: oughtn't they overrule the pilots, then?

XOR is competence & responsibility a pre-requisite for having vote on an issue?

An aweful lot of people hold that neither competence nor responsibility have ANY right to prevent them from wielding voting-authority.

I'd require critical-thinking as a prerequisite for voting, of all citizens.
