General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

He was one of those early grifters who saw the transition to para-politics and then God as a means of making a brand (of Brand).

That anyone ever took his spirituaity or politics or his cringe comedy or acting seriously is beyond me.

They had PILES of his Bookie-Wookie in Waterstones once.

I think the news media needs to stop pretending he's still (or ever was?) a comedian.

well, he is a joke

I had multiple friends who dressed like him and used his affectations during his peak popularity in the noughties. No SA's though fortunately.

Looking back it was pretty much like a license to act more camp in public.

I never understood his appeal. He's just vulgar. It's not funny. His appearance in a couple otherwise good movies really ruins it.

Easier to say with hindsight, there is literally a gif of him flashing people on a red carpet event but no one batted an eyelid at the time.

That sex criminal hasn't been comical in any form for decades, and personally I'd argue never was. Not that I expect anything from Sky, but they're really diving deep in the muck to protect a notable sex pest this time. It's almost like people shouldn't be linking tabloid slop on here.

What the fuck are you on about? They are covering his trial? How are they protecting him??

It's almost like people shouldn't be linking tabloid slop on here.

Your slop is enough mate. Fucking hell.

Oh hi, Russ. I'm not your mate govnah.

If Sky were being honest in this headline they would not launder his reputation by invoking decades old labels for him, and instead say serial sex pest and known grifter Russel Brand. That's what I'm fucking on about.

You are reading a lot from one headline mate. Quite the leap. The BBC, C4 and C5 employed him, not Sky ffs. And sky isn't a tabloid, it's a TV news channel.

He looks like a herpe.
