General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

BBC claim they didn't notice the n word, despite a 2 hour delay between filming and them broadcasting.

But they did notice the phrase "Free Palestine" and chose to censor it. What justification could they possibly give for censoring "Free Palestine" as a supposedly impartial broadcaster? Hmm...

Should have said "Free Palestine my n...a!"

Stopped watching any live television, and cancelled my TV License. They can ask a certain country from the MiddleEast for the missing subscription, for what I care.

Baftas 2026: BBC apologises for not editing out racial slur shouted by guest with Tourette's - BBC News – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz6edwg06n1o

Some are unhappy with how weak the apology is, but contrary to the above report that they said they didn't notice, it says

The corporation declined to comment further on why it wasn't initially edited or bleeped out.

Convenient Tourettes is inconvenient The spot-on timing of the comment and its relevance to the situation leave an impression of willful action. It's apparently not the case, and the fact that the person who made the comment left the building after making the comment is indicative of understanding the offensiveness of the comment. Free Palestine does not require any apology from anybody.

Tourettes can be triggered more the more inappropriate the setting is... hence timing and relevance issue

You could have made that easier to understand.
