For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

"CEO said a thing!" journalism

Come to think of it, that really applies to all "top" CEOs. And the whole US admin. And they all tend to be active on antisocial media, so it's easy to quote them.

And they're all trying to peddle their bullshit, regardless of facts or truth. Problem is, for many people it seems to work.

As some people who need to label everything say: we live in a post truth society.

I agree: mainstream journalism has failed us.

We're still being inundated with lazy pseudo-journalistic infotainment that pretends Musk is hard at work in his shed behind the house, clad in overalls as he dutifully ponders the convoluted assembly of rocket assemblages beyond mortal ken.

It's utterly pathological, and they've been doing it for so long it's clearly an active, conscious choice to platform falsehoods.

Indeed. Who can read a thing like this and believe it, considering his very public track record:

So like a week ago, on Neil degrass Tyson's YouTube. He had a video about how it's more realistic to put a Base on the moon. And called out Elon and other tech bros for being stupid (basically).

Looks like Elon watched it. And now proclaims it's his idea to go to the moon instead.
