Ergonomic, split and other weird keyboards

Rules

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn't exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

i.e. no regular non-split¹ row-stagger and no non-split¹ ortholinear²

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid

Started having some pain after days of work + evenings of gaming, so I decided to get an ergonomic keyboard.

  • Board: Corne Choc wireless from Typeractive
  • Switches: Ambients Silent Choc Switches 20 g linear Nocturnal from lowprokb
  • Keycaps: MBK Low Profile PBT from lowprokb
  • Controllers: Supermini NRF52840 from Aliexpress
  • Tenting: Magsafe metal rings and phone holders from Aliexpress
  • Solar panels: Ixolar panels that are nearly the exact same size as the keyboard controllers from Digikey
  • Solar harverters: Solar harvester for Li-ion batteries on Tindie

It tents:

It sticks together:

All thanks to Magsafe rings and small magnets on the bottom:

And if I ever want to Switch up the color scheme:

You must love licorice lol. Love the look and the MagSafe was a clever design

Look if you never get the urge to take a bite of your keyboard when hungry what are you even doing

Nice. I have a very similar setup, though I drop the outside column.

I have several crkbds but I kinda regret buying the Typeractive one. It’s fine but they don’t provide modeling files or kicad references which makes building a custom case and switch plate way way harder than a crkbd off the main repo.

Ooooh, i really like the magsafe idea. Seems like a more versatile version of the tenting puck.

Super interested in the Corne layouts but I've been unemployed for a little bit so my budget is approximately $0. Anyway it's super pretty and very inventive so I'm gonna favourite and forget this.

Are solar panels effective at all for charging the batteries?

Not really! Especially not inside. And it is more covenient to plug them to a charger overnight than to let them on the windowsill.

But they are pretty and could be useful in a bind.
