I would think that under that arrangement, Canada becoming an European country would not be too much of a stretch anymore, no?

Minnesota wouldn't need to be occupied by Canada. We're already occupied by the US. We'd welcome Canada as liberators.
Why does California get guaranteed independence while the rest of the Self-Sufficient blue states get annexed?
