Bloom County is an American comic strip by Berkeley Breathed which originally ran from December 8, 1980, until August 6, 1989. It examined events in politics and culture through the viewpoint of a fanciful small town in Middle America, where children often have adult personalities and vocabularies and where animals can talk.

  1. This community is for Bloom County and associated media from 1980-1989, the life of the original strip.

  2. As this is a re live the media as it was released community, do not post strips that were released after the date of the most recent strip posted (the day's date in 1982 for 2025, 1983 in 2026 etc).

  3. Additional media posted should be limited to 3 items per day as to not spam. If you have more items to post beyond that add it to your post rather than making additional posts.

This hits just as close to home now as it did in utero in '83

Can't tell if typo or joke too smart for me.

I was very anxious from my earliest moments, i.e., in utero

Truly peak 'Breathed.'

I guess it doesn't hit the same way these days, but these were so good at the time, like nobody else had been doing since Walt Kelly or so.

I updated some anxieties for you.

Or if you are outside the US.

Hahaha, nice! (both of those)

You know, it just hit me right now, a question-- why are we all so left wing, over here? Like, is it indeed true that we're just a bag of budding communist agitators, at the end of the day?

Eh, nah... I think it's more about us sharing common human decency. Animal-decency, really.
