Talking about it being more convenient for the stores is extremely funny, the real reason is mentioned in the timeline even if he doesn’t want to explicitly say it at the end: removing the date stamp lets them move releases around however they want no matter what, which would be very convenient for WORC if they would rather shove another UB set down the pipeline.

It is funny that Lorwyn was the first set without a date stamp, because it was originally a 2025 set. But because there no date they were able to bump it to 2026.
They remove the date stamp because it is a pain point for retailers, but keep adding additional sets each year, which as a retailer, is a worse pain point.
That and making 5 versions of the same cards in the same set.
As a cost cutting mechanism, whatever. I don't really care if my bulk foil rare has a date, it'll pringle either way.
