I know this is rhetorical but the answer is because Tom Walz is standing up against lawlessness and fascism.

While I don't pretend to know all the details, he was clearly already not seeking reelection before clashing with ICE.
Because Walz has at least one or two earnest bones in his body. That's not something he comes across when harassing spineless republicans.

This DOJ isn't getting convictions as often as they get headlines. A few of their lawyers are getting their cases dismissed for being appointed in the wrong way.
They couldn't even convict the alleged sandwich thrower.

Trump was surprisingly easy to convict once Alvin Bragg started pressing charges. But it was far too little and too late to win a conviction before Trump could return to office.
Plenty of other Republicans would be easy targets, if the DOJ bothered to press a case.
