I just don't get people like this, you're aware you're watching fictional media, right? If you can't disconnect what you're watching from reality you need to see a psychiatrist or grow beyond the age of 5 before watching film.
The inability to empathise with fictional characters speaks to a lack of imagination.
The point of the meme is that they only have empathy with cats, not with people being murdered.

Bad take. The problem here is that the person feels nothing seeing a human being murdered, only when it's a cat does it become a problem.
It's the same type of person who thinks you may never portray rape in film, because that is personally detestable to them- murder people and torture them and it's entertainment, but when it comes to their pet outrage (no pun intended) they are incapable of abstracting the thing because of their specific personal mores.
Well, I mean, cats might be venal assholes (and I love them for it for the same reasons I don't like servile waiters), but humans still manage to be worse... somehow.
