So back in the naughties, in highschool, my friend would share music with me. She'd have her dad burn a CD for her, and give it to me. She introduced me to Nickel Creek (bluegrass band, 10/10, highly recommend), and Elliott Smith. I shared Paul Simon with her. In the era when PCs always had a disk drive, and burners were available too. I can't believe my current PC doesn't have a disk drive lol

What music did you share/be introduced to, and what medium did you use to share it?

I used to burn CDs, and was introduced to an array of Music With Stuff For Trumpets

I was (am) a trumpet player, so my various music teachers, band mates etc would always direct me towards anything that had a really meaty or interesting brass part

Cassette tapes. I still have a mix sent to me by a pen friend I now realise was wildly inappropriate. It included x-ray spex, Meanies, Spiderbait, GG Allin, and Cosmic Psychos.

Can't currently play it as the stereo bit the dust.

I only know spiderbait out of that list 👀

That cassette could be relic now, it's been so long since I've seen one with my own two eyeballs!

CDs, minidiscs then vinyl in yr 12. Only a few people had a turntable though.

Shares went from pop -> metal -> techno -> psytrance -> and finally D&B.

I wanted to get into vinyl collection, but never got around to buying a player.

What's your opinion on sound quality?

Ran the aircon in bursts.

Midnight serenades

Melbcat sang the song of her people through the night. I’d get up, carry her back to bed and make her cuddle which would settle her down. But a few times she’d get up and do it again. It’s weird because she always used to be near silent. I’m wondering if it’s because she’s getting older, maybe becoming a little confused and frustrated or doesn’t know what she wants. It also still could be demands for beef.

I’m going to rest a little bit and then empty the litterboxes, take out the bins, and stack dishes to make a start on the kitchen.

Today I have been listening to Take It Greasy, by Ol' 55 on Mushroom records.

Actually managed to sleep well which is lovely. AC off and window open at 9pm, just the fan on me from then did the trick! Pleasantly surprised

Well… that was cloudier than the first. I’m not getting a Michelin star for that one. But it’s fine, I blended it all into meat soup to encourage Melbcat to have the fluids with the beef. 2 in the fridge, 2 in the freezer.

Now I have to clean the kitchen 🫩
