We Australians are taught about bushfires and their dangers from a very early age. Those who live in a bushfire danger zone are well aware of it, and should have a bushfire safety plan.

This article paints a picture that Australians are ignorant or naive about bushfires that I don't buy. Bushfire safety has been drilled into us for a very long time

Also facilities and just cultural awareness.

If you have a property at risk, you need fire breaks and a fire cart with a pump and water tank.

The fire dept shows up to inspect every year.

Was the LA fires worse than the Australian fires?

Black Friday bushfires covered a larger but mostly rural area, but LA fires were in suburban areas so more homes were lost. That said, losses in both were substantial.
