What r/Collapse users talk about is usually worst-case scenarios. Also, when I used to visit that subreddit a few years ago, it seemed to me the that people in there generally assume there is no way out, as if things won't stop getting worse no matter what. I think we are in the darkest point before the dawn, personally.

Despair is typical of those who do not understand the causes of evil, see no way out, and are incapable of struggle. The modern industrial proletariat does not belong to the category of such classes.

Yes, it's critical that we not fall into fatalistic/deterministic thinking. We are always wrestling to decide what the future turns out to be. We aren't just passengers.

The news comming out of China look pretty good overall, so you could try learning a bit about what's going on there, and perhaps even try learning the language, as that's a multi year project.

If all you read is liberalism shared by liberals with extreme pessimism and fatalism(which is the most of r/collapse), you will see the world through the lense of a liberal with extreme pessimism and fatalism. Instead of falling for doomerism which causes demobolization, channel that righteous anger into organization and raising class consciousness.

Your first problem was visiting reddit.

i mean, everything looks bad if you're feeding on liberal propaganda, and you still believe the BS that trump spews...rightoids everywhere are attacking each other because they don't know how else defend capital interests without looking visibly as imperialist lapdogs or open nazis, they're accusing their old idols and each other of being communists (as marx said in the manifesto), china is getting ahead, dprk is finally redeemed when you look their decaying south sister, cuba is still communist

I hate to say it... but if it is, it's freeing. Like I can do anything and sweet death is finally coming for me, as the bourgeoisie suffer even if I suffer with them.

The bourgeoisie live in hell already lol. Like all tyrants and bullies, they know deep down that they're reviled and live in constant fear of the day when we finally snap and get even with them.
They don't even have free will, not really. Capital is what dictates everything they do and say.
They're not "free" at all, regardless of where they can take their private jets and what fancy toys they can buy and what twisted laws that can write and have the state rubber-stamp for them.
Control is an illusion for them too.

The Cold War era was also doom and gloom. 'End of the world nuclear war' scenarios. Which is a possibility, but back then it never happened. Things can change pretty fast for the better too. We are always 2 meals away from a revolution. Captalists are scared.

The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.

I'm sorry to tell you, but you'll probably have a future. Capitalism won't collapse into nothing, it'll either be overthrown or keep on existing and adapt to new conditions. Sure, things are going to get progressively worse, but they're already pretty shit right now and you're still living. Having a future as life is right now is actually a worse prospect than believing the world will end, which is why stuff like r/collapse is so attractive.

Don't visit r/postcollapse then!

Because it's looking pretty desolate 🤪.

I think there is a future but it's gonna be a mix between Idiocracy and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
