A place to discuss comic books of all types, from old to new, Big 2 to indie, and everything in between.

Floppies, graphic novels, compilations, omnibusses (omnibusi?) are all fair game.

There is only one rule:*

Comic Books is a no judgement zone.

You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.

If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.

* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(

I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.

Good stuff to look for at your local shop, looks super light due to the holidays, looks like D.C. is taking the week off!

Marvel Knights The World To Come #5 (Of 6) - A future Black Panther story... TBH, I read through the first issue and decided to wait for the whole run to finish before reading it. Lots of time jumping here.

Skin Police 2 #4 (Of 4) - It's Blade Runner, but with clones instead of Replicants.

Ultimate Endgame #1 (Of 5) - Starting the end of the Ultimate line?

Thanks for posting the list, Happy New Year! I've been having a crazy week, but I DID pick up my last like 2mo worth of books! Looks like at some point I missed a Minor Threats series so I picked up #2 and my shop ordered me a #1 since they were sold out. And they weren't mad I've been slacking haha.

Let's see what's on the list for me..

Lucky Devils #6 - Been digging this, slow release schedule because one of the guys involved died on like issue 3, but it's a fun series about hell but hell is ran like a MLM scheme. The two main demons it follows are trying to basically corrupt the system by adding goodness, and take over hell.

Welp, that's it for me!

My kid gifted me a part time job for Christmas...

I had been telling my wife that, yeah, I love our library, but the shelves are 30 years old, cramped and bending. I really should replace them.

Our kid texted her asking what I wanted for Christmas... surprise! 5 new bookshelves showed up.

And I'm like... oh... oh no... You don't understand...

FIRST - I have to empty the 6 bookshelves we have and move them into a back bedroom. But in order to do that, I had to move a bunch of storage boxes in that room to make room for them.

Then, I pulled all the books off one shelf, stacked them up and moved empty #1 into the bedroom.

Books from rack #2 went to empty #1 and so on until all 6 racks were empty, moved to the bedroom, and re-filled.

THEN, I HAVE to do something about the ugly ass wall the bookshelves were hiding. When we bought the house, the only thing I hated was this one wall in what would become the library.

I did a temporary fix by, you know, burying it with bookshelves.

Now that the wall is uncovered again, I'm fixing it for real. I've started by pulling all the crappy wood slats off that the prior homeowner just... stapled up, and I have a guy coming tomorrow to patch and repaint the wall.

So this is where we are right now.

9 AM tomorrow, I have the guy coming to re-do the wall. Once the paint is dry I can build the 5 NEW racks, and re-build the library from scratch. The new shelves are wider and taller and will add something like 200 linear shelf inches or thereabouts.

Pull all the books out of the back bedroom, re-org, and then use those shelves for blu ray and DVD overstock, which means re-organizing the media shelves in the living room too...

And while I'm at it, I may as well replace the two blonde racks in the library with matching ones so all 7 library racks are the same, take the two blonde ones, put those in the living room with the other blonde shelves and then donate two of the smaller ones...

Yeah... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I'm beat, I'm exhausted, my right arm is sore and bruised from moving all those books one shelf at a time and I still have to move them back starting next week. Good god graphic novels are HEAVY! Heavier than "normal" books for some reason. I think it's the paper!
