I feel like im living in an alternate timeline where the prequels were good the way I see them glazed nowadays

Honestly, I personally love the prequels, with the exception of most scenes that included Anakin Skywalker. The final fight on Mustafar is cool, but aside from that, I could really leave him. Loved all the scenes of the actual war though, and I think I might be one of very few people who actually really enjoyed the Galactic Senate scenes as well. I just have a fascination with the internal politics of Sci-Fi empires. Part of why I love Stellaris so much.

They are good only on comparison.
They still suck. (Although the first one has a huge nostalgia bonus with me)

No they're not. They're worse than the sequels by far.

The sequels (or anything Disney, really) damaged Star Wars beyond repair, the way I see it. You can't say the same about the prequels.

The prequels were good ideas executed badly. The sequels have no redeeming virtues at all.

That's what people said about the prequels! Ahhhhh!

And now you're alongside people who grew up with the prequels, not just the boomers who raged at them.

I rather like the prequels. I love that they told an actually original storyline and weren't just a cashgrab. The sequels were so bad I've refused to even watch the 3rd one, some of the other spin-off media was good and explored original ideas - I think those are the ones that will be remembered fondly in 20 years not the movies.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

The original series wasn't that great either. But they were all children's movies that were popular with children, and those children saw all the flaws in the next run when they were adults. In the OT, Luke is such an insufferable little bitch who is useless at everything except flying until RoTJ, where he takes this massive messiah complex.

"Somehow Palpatine returned" is perfectly adequate dialogue, it's just a dumb as shit plot contrivance.

Its a soap opera plot line without any of the backstory that makes soap operas entertaining. Anakin saying "I don't like sand" monologue is poor because its corny, but it does operate to help us understand Anakin as a character.

I cannot believe I'm hearing the sequels described as being a soap opera and the prequels described as being corny.

ALL star wars is a soap opera. It's all a spaghetti western set in space
