Well that's pretty goddamn rude. The current clients are phenomenal for brand new apps that have no preexisting framework to start on, have been progressing very quickly, and are really, really nice to use.

Maybe let's not put others down in our excitement for something we're familiar with.

For how young these apps are Wefwef, Connect, and Jerboa are definitely killing it. Its amazing how fast these sprung up.

I second that, Lift off is fantastic. Stable with all the features you would expect to read and post. Also need to give a shout out to Jerboa

I liked liftoff much better, jerboa seems to have this strange bug where it loses connection and I have to restart the app and then lose my scrolling

[-] packetloss@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Agreed! Liftoff has been an awesome replacement for Boost since switching to Lemmy. Can't wait for the Boost client though.

Yeah if I were one of these devs and saw this thread I'd be pretty disheartened. It's been like 4 weeks or so and people seem to expect a boost / sync / baconreader experience for a platform that for the majority is brand new.

Cheers to the hard working devs making apps ❤️

Seriously, OP's post is highly disrespectful imo. We can be excited for Boost without putting down others.

[-] Elindio@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 1 year ago

Yeah they're all really good and improving quickly. People are comparing mature stable reddit apps to alpha lemmy apps. Boost and sync will be buggy at the beginning and will get better.

[-] Humanbiscuit@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

… and Wefwef updates are fast and constantly improving what is already very good. I’ve tried Memmy, but Wefwef is my favourite with some recent fixes of glitches in the matrix.

[-] TeenLaquifah@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Wefwef is now Vayager, just spreading the word!

[-] AnonymousLlama@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Do you have a link to the announcement or something? I remember it being discussed a few days ago

[-] TeenLaquifah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I’m using it currently and don’t know how to get a link, but I searched posts for wefwef vayager and found a pinned post in the wefwef community pretty easily.

Ah common, the clients out there are basically in the same state as the lemmy and kbin code, its something that has just started, and you shouldn't set to high expectations for boost either.

We are in the pioneer age of this social media system. Stuff is a little Rough firstly, but it will get better with time.

Honestly, after setting wefwef to compact view and dark mode and spending a few days using it to get used to where everything is, I'm starting to really like it. Easy to digest while browsing and the swipe actions to vote/reply/mark as read work really well once you get used to it.

[-] Goatastic@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

I'm looking forward to it. Jerboa has been good so far. But I loved being able to collapse comment threads.

I figured it out. Gotta tap the area where the names are.

[-] everett@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I find I'm able to tap the comment text itself.

[-] Goatastic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Hmmm. How do you make it happen? I tried long pressing on the comment to collapse like with boost but it only got rid of the you l up vote and comment stuff.

[-] GatoB@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Tap comment

[-] JC@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

You can do this in connect and wefwef, those are the two I use most. I'm more interrested in a good app for kbin. The Pwa app isn't bad, but it's missing some functionality and it isn't a native app.

[-] LeHappStick@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

I'm using Jerboa and it is great, but has less customization options than Boost and you can't save drafts of your comments... as far as I can tell.

Appreciate everyone working on these apps, amazing work 👍
