I think we've had a good example recently of why we value the rule of law, and what becomes possible when rulers decide they don't need to attend to it.

Seriously?

You think the current example of why it doesn’t work, is an example of why we need it?

I guess it'd be okay to ignore the rule of law so long as the powerful did things I agree with. 🙄

The rule of law is that the rich break it every day, and get away with it.

Sounds like all your problems are exactly with the current system and its rule of law. Yet you keep defending it.

I think its more that they are just stuck in the conventional stage of ethics, where their ethics are based on external models (laws, religion, etc.).

Edit: not to say what the tweet says isnt another reason for some people (like he says, its one reason), I am just saying the contemporary stage is a bigger reason.

This is why I will never file a jira ticket, and just email the head of IT directly!

Being fair, this isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes ego, hubris, and/or entitlement can lead people astray in thinking they can push any boundary or any person into submitting to their will. Meanwhile, ignoring potentially necessary safeguards against bully tactics.

Citing this as a person that works directly with policy and law, ignoring the channels versus properly having the processes reviewed and changed accordingly can render a catastrophic effect. For reference, please review the current state of law and civility within the office of the POTUS due to simply ignoring the checks and balances.

Humans are monkeys and systems should exist for good reason.
