Alarmist, like a fire alarm. Much easier to turn it off. Don't worry about the smoke or crackling sounds, I'm sure it's nothing. Calm down, you're being hysterical.

I had to take the batteries out of mine. All that beeping was giving me a major headache and driving me crazy.
