I’ve been reading books about politics in the 1990s, and the National Rifle Association convinced millions of people that if Bill Clinton was elected in 1992, all of their guns would be taken away.
This “slippery slope” thinking led directly to both the Waco siege in early 1993 and the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.
If it's a dumb and backwards way of thinking, of course conservatives are more prone to it
They like where it leads: an excuse to be cruel to the people they fear
