I think a few herbs in pots is the most worthwhile start to try out an urban farm.

It's low maintenance, needs little space and makes a world of difference in your cooking.

I had this one. In the 2000s. Went a long long way down that road. I lived in a city, shared a small back garden. Planted potatoes, onions, carrots, and coriander (for some reason that I don't remember). They all grey, a lot. It was fantastic. Then I got into keeping bees. Learned all about bees & how to work with them. My friend and I bought 20 colonies, built hives, convinced our local council to give us derelict land, and started an apiary where we would teach people about bees. We travelled around various festivals and took bees, and talked about bees. It was a very satisfying & focused few years.
