Evangelists are having a bad day, for that "god's answer to homosexuality" is being stopped.
Now that's a group I have a hard time feeling compassion for.
Finally, a good thing I didn't have on my bingo card
Wow, that is fucking amazing
This is not new, the HIV reservoir was known to exist in bone marrow stem cells.
Yeeeeaaahh... some dont want to cure HIV though.... what? I sound crazy?
HIV treatments and cures have been continually buried for years... why? Who would suffer the most from HIV/aids? Well, gay men. Has there been a conspiracy involving HIV and gay men? Intentionally killing homosexuals?
Thats a rabbit hole thats enlightening.
So let's mass produce?
Mass produce what? Completely irradiating people and killing their immune system for risky stem cell transplantation?
Versus aids That will cause them massive immunity issues anyway? Sounds like a win if humanity can fine tune this.
If there were no other options available to HIV+ people you might have a point. However, there are other options open to them now. What needs to be done is cut the profit motive out of the pharmaceutical industry which causes such treatment to be unaffordable to many.
It’s also important to point out that cancer-free people with HIV won’t benefit from stem cell transplants, as it’s a very risky procedure that can lead to life-threatening infections, says Gaebler. Most people are better off taking ART – often in the form of daily pills – which is a much safer and convenient way to stop HIV from spreading, enabling people to enjoy long and healthy lives, he says. Moreover, a recently available drug called lenacapavir provides nearly complete protection against HIV with just two injections per year.
Thanks for informing about the safer alternatives. Looks like big pharama is still screwing ppl over:
UNAIDS has seen research that lenacapavir can be produced for just $40 per person per year, falling to $25 within a year of roll out. It is beyond comprehension how Gilead can justify a price of $28,218. If this game-changing medicine remains unaffordable, it will change nothing.
anyone who taken daily pills knows they suck but injections are still "filled with cash" that the average person cant pay. The risk of being free completely vs the cost treating it might be worth it.
