Back in my day, we used our teeth.

I mean we still can. I remember some bricks being chewed up like a dog went at it. But, nope, it was just wee little me.

The real question is… what did y’all call them? My family’s nickname was:

Brick-unstick

Ever since the Yellow Submarine set, we call them the Yoko Ono, because it can break up the Beatles.

But even 20+ years ago one was included in pretty much every medium sized set, so there wasn't really a need to buy them individually.

I never got one in a single set as a kid.

Even with the old Sandcrawler set you didn't get a separator. Not once in all my years buying sets in the early-mid 2000s was there a brick separator included. You had to buy that shit separately, and the stores I went to never had them in person, so it was like something you had to order online.

Now, they give them to you with pretty much any set of over 1,000 pieces or so.
