MODERATORS

So, we're into the final full-week of FediWriMo, and only one person is behind.

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the growth of this community. While we haven't heard from others, we started this month with single digit subscribers (heck, I started the community the night before the challenge began), and we've grown to 26 subscribers.

If any of the subscribers we haven't heard from are doing their own writing month challenge, we'd love to hear from you. If any of you have any other feedback, please feel free to post it. This community isn't just for those of us who've been psoting stats. It's for all subscribers.

The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter. ’tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.

I wonder if we can draw people into it by reading excepts from our own projects during the writing months. I'd be down to test that out by reading what I wrote.

That's something that people can do if they want. But, I think there are lots of reasons that people might not want to: first time writing anything (much less a novel), the story is very personal (and not for general consumption), they don't want someone "stealing" their ideas (kinda a weak point, IMO, but there are people that feel that way), and numerous others.

Personally, I would have been embarrassed to post any of my writing this time... It's just bad, I had no plot, characters, setting, or anything. I totally winged it from a general concept, so the writing is just me figuring out what the story actually is.

For those uncomfortable, I completely understand as to why. For me, I'm comfortable with the stuff I do, given that the fiction I write is connected in some cases to my personal beliefs. Not always is it the case, but here it's certainly a sight to behold.
