I planned to update after each season, but life gets busy and before you know it, you've finished two more seasons of SG-1.
I've continued to really love this series and I don't think there were any episode I would consider bad form these seasons. This show has been really strong.
Instead of writing my thoughts on each episode, I will pick out the notable ones to me.
Season 4
-
Episode 2 - Breeders: I think this is the one where the people they were about to trade with were actually racists. I liked this one overall and was happy to see Earth stuck by its morals and that Daniel kept persisting that Earth should learn more before helping.
-
Episode 6 - Time Loop: OK, so this might be my favorite episode. It was really funny. I love how O'Neill kept giving bad examples and how Teal'c kept getting hit during his reset. It was also funny to see that they took a break at some point and just chilled around the base.
-
Episode 7 - Watergate: This was a really fun episode. It had X-Files vibes and my wife, a Trekie, was listening in and she liked it too.
-
Episode 11 - Point of no return: This had an interesting twist. My wife was actually rewatching Sex and the City around this time, so it was cool to show her the guest actor. I like seeing him pop-up in another episode later.
-
Episode 13 - The Curse: This is another X-Files feeling episode. I did not expect the twist at the end either. I plan to show this one to my wife along with "Time Loop".
Season 5
-
Episode 5 - The Fifth Man: I figured the extra person was some sort of alien and the stakes of this one did not seem too high. I was enjoyable, but I think it would have been more interesting if the extra person wasn't so in need of help while "off world".
-
Episode 13 - Proving Grounds: I really like this. The while time, I kind of suspected it was all part of the training, but I was not sure until it was revealed. It was a fun episode to watch.
-
Episode 19 - Menace: I did not expect the girl to turn against them at the end of the episode and I did not expect her to be the mother of the replicators. I expect we will see more of her later.
-
Episode 21 - Meridian: OK, well this episode sucked for obvious reasons. He was one of my favorite characters. I stumbled over a spoiler and knew he was leaving the show at some point, but the characters all had such great chemistry together and he was written really well and had good humor. I am happy that his "death" was an honorable one at least and not pointless.
Still sad to see him go, but as a spoiler, I have liked his replacement so far. I am happy they didn't recast him and I am happy that the person who replaced him wasn't written to have the same exact skill set. Although, knowing he would leave the show, I expected the person who would replace him was the archaeologist they took from the planet that captured them in season 3.
I'm already about halfway through season 6 and will try to do another update soon.
Please no spoilers.
