Eagerly waiting to see Max pull up to the grid of the first race next season in a 69 car

While I would love to see that I imagine if he is going to swap he'll swap to 3 as that's the number he originally wanted.

Using the right font, his current number checks all the same boxes.

[–] Microw@piefed.zip 3 points 6 days ago

So that's the real reason why he wanted to win the title!

Yeaaah… if you ignore 96, 8 (with proper font) ~~or 88~~ (maybe too nazi?), then that’s the only and legit reason to go for it! :D

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Tbf you do have to ignore 88.

[–] Etnaphele@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I wanna be fair: why ignore 88? :)

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (2 children)

It's apparently neo-nazi code. The eighth letter of the alphabet is H, so HH, Heil Hitler.

I didn't know either and had to look it up.

[–] Microw@piefed.zip 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's probably more well known as Nazi code in centeal europe than in other parts of the world. No one in their right mind in the german speaking areas would use 88 in their personal marketing.

Honestly it's probably not that well known. If you're conscious of all the Nazi bullshit it is, I doubt my parents would be aware, or my wife.

It's like primary school secret club level childish nonsense tbh.

I also did a quick search, and somehow oversaw the Nazi connection among the innocent other words...

88 is a natural number with various mathematical and cultural properties. It is also associated with fortune, love, neo-Nazism, hip hop and time travel.

Because they're racing F1 cars, not DeLoreans!

Mm but that would work only like ||? And then it looks like "2"

[–] Localhorst86@feddit.org 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

11 is not available, checo still has a right to use that, and iirc he will be back on the grid next year.

Unless he gives up his number of course.

[–] Jozav@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Sure. For reference: 8 and 88 also not available (claimed by Grosjean and Kubica). I just wanted to complete the list in "if you choose to ignore 8, 88 and 96".

[–] Localhorst86@feddit.org 2 points 5 days ago

While both 8 and 88 have been used by Grosjean and Kubica respectively, they are available now by default. Grosjean last used the number in 2020, Kubica in 2021. F1 Drivers were free to claim these numbers for themselves from 2023/2024 respectively.

For now Perez last used his 11 in 2024 (I dont believe he used it in his Ferrari test, or at least it doesn't count), which means it would be free to claim in 2027.

The new meme number is 67 though.

[–] Etnaphele@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

He’s too old for that

[–] Honytawk@feddit.nl 3 points 6 days ago

Doesn't work upside down though
