There's so much legislation around events, but I would imagine it's a variety of factors involving alcohol on premises, mature themes in music, legal guardian requirements for very young, etc.

Notice how it's 18+ in NZ.

18+ makes sense. 16 if underage people are allowed to attend just seems arbitrary

Like I said, it's about laws.

They want to maximize the number of people who can attend but also make money from the sale of alcohol, hence they find the lowest legal number that allows both.

And to be honest, a bunch of children running around would ruin the vibes. 16 is a decent social cut-off there.
