Maybe start calling them the Stasi and some more on the wronger side will wake up to it
Not as many movies about them, and I don't see the Stasi being covered in History classes.
Basically, so few Americans would get the reference it would only hurt.
Stasi were (just) authoritarian. Gestapo is a better fit to describe the fascist secret police.
