"Denmark wants to require people ID themselves to use social media"

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

tell us, oh wise one, how else do you plan to keep children off social media? a tick box that asks if they are under 15?

Nah. I'm just feeling let down because Lemmy tells me that only republicans do horrible things that are bad for information.

Could it actually be that all politicians are really sucky and it's not just republicans?! That, in fact, it's rich politicians who reside on both sides of the political aisle that suck and don't look out for us?

I hope people are finally seeing the light. No one is looking out for us. No. One.

Nah. I’m just feeling let down because Lemmy tells me that only republicans do horrible things that are bad for information

you need to switch instances or atleast change your feed.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.today -3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I should! Maybe I should jump over to lemmy.ml.. You guys seem to have it together.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

no one has it completely together; but we all atleast agree that republicans don't have a monopoly on being shitty human beings.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.today -2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Maybe you all on that instance agree that repubs don't have a monopoly on being shitty human beings. That's certainly not the gist of most of Lemmy. lol

But hey, I have nothing against you all.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That’s certainly not the gist of most of Lemmy

that's the gist of almost the entire western world and look at the instability & fascism that it's causing.

anything that takes you out of that political groupthink is a good thing imo since no one is immune to propaganda and the more you hear it, the more you start to believe it.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.today -2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I agree with Shkreli's comment. If we're so bad, then people should stop trying so hard to come here. Why is everyone trying to come here if we suck so much (according to Lemmy)? Why don't they go to other countries?

Rest of the world could team up and ignore us. Why haven't they?! Maybe, just maybe, we aren't so bad after all. Cuz everyone is still trying to get here. lol

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago

read the response

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So if we are so bad, be done with us. If the US suck soooo bad, then people should stop working so hard to come here. Let us be. Wonder why that isn't happening. We are just one lil country.

The rest of the entire world could just team up and choose to ignore us. How come that hasn't happened yet?! Hmmmm...

Why are so many people from other countries trying to get here. Gosh, according to Lemmy, every place is better than the US. So why isn't everyone going to other places.

Let the US just stand alone and wither and die. How come no one is doing that? Think about it.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

you're exhibiting the default position of americans that have completely (and hopefully unwittingly) swallowed all of the propaganda and i know this because i use to believe it too.

it's taking me a lifetime of effort to learn from history books, lectures, and other forms of intellectual masturbation that people are forced to come here because the united states enshitifies their countries by fostering war, political violence, and corruption when the people in those countries try to install governments that want to use its natural resources to help it's own people instead of giving it away to american capitalists. this has been happening since european colonization has been a thing, so it's not unique to the united states.

i don't expect you accept any of this because i didn't at first; but i suspect that you're atleast aware that we invade other countries for their oil. this is also true of other natural resources like minerals, foliage, strategic position, etc. we take what the american capitalists want to make a profit from and do it by any means necessary to get it, including fucking over other countries to badly that their people are forced to leave and it's a open secret that we do it since it's literally printed in black in white in history books as well as by our own government.

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

But here's the thing. They can pick plenty of other countries that everyone thinks are way more awesome than us. So again, if we are so bad, why are they coming here? If we are so bad and are just one tiny country, then why haven't all the other bigger "better" countries teamed up to take in the disenfranchised, and let us wither and die?

Why hasn't anyone stepped up to take in everyone? We are so bad, and other countries are so good, they could just step up and take them. The other countries can refuse do do bis with us. I mean, we are just one country. The rest of the ENTIRE PLANET outnumber us.

So why aren't they doing something about? Since we're so bad and evil and all.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

they do pick other countries and those other countries accept so many that it's lead to larger relative immigration populations than the united states has accepted. it's only propaganda that says they're only coming to the united states; it's the most accessible place you can reach on foot.

and the rest of the world cannot "gang up" the united states mostly because it has made everyone dependent upon the american financial system to keep their people fed and housed and also because we have the largest military by far that gets used every time another country tries to stop using the american financial system. only countries with large enough militaries and financial systems that can fight back are the ones that try to gang up and they're doing it with BRICS; but even combined they're still dramatically smaller.

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

they do pick other countries and those other countries accept so many that it’s lead to larger relative immigration populations than the united states has accepted.

So problem solved. I mean, we are tinier that the rest of the planet. So everyone should have plenty of room. Heck, according to Lemmy, no one should even come here. We're a terrible country!

because it has made everyone dependent upon the american financial system to keep their people fed and housed

Hmm, so all of those countries are dependent upon the American financial system. Guess we aren't so bad. Seems like a lot of people depend on us.

But again, why don't all the other great countries just take that over? We're so terrible and so horrible, it should be pretty easy to do. Not to mention that according to Lemmy, the US is falling apart! So perfect time for countries to break away and be independent of the big bad ole United States.

Why isn't that happening? We are just one horrible little country that is falling apart. Right?

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

the problem is not solved because the immigration is pushing the global north to embrace fascism and drug dealers also make you dependent up on them and you would be fool to think that dependency is automatically a good thing.

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well gee, that makes the US not seem so bad. Could it be that Lemmy is wrong about us being the true evil of the world?

Why would immigration push the global north to embrace fascism?! I thought it was just the US that was fascist?

How has the US made anyone dependent on us? We are just one country. One that is supposedly falling apart. With so many other good countries out there, they can step in and take over! Why don't they? Why aren't they stepping up and doing the right thing and just getting rid of our big bad capitalist ways? We're terrible. Lemmy says we are evil.

So again, how come the good heroic countries aren't teaming up and stepping up?

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

yes, the united states forced that dependency on the rest of the world and it's not just the united states that's embracing fascism. if you're an american, it's not surprising to know that you're unaware of the other fascist parties that are getting stronger in the rest of the global north like afd in germany; reform in the uk; national front in france; meloni's victory in italy; new democracy party in greece; etc.

this child-like view of "good" and "bad" countries is holding you back.

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ok, so have you told Lemmy this? Because Lemmy seems to think we are the only bad guy. Did you let Lemmy know your theory?

And wow, if we forced dependency on everyone, the how is it we are falling apart? Lemmy says it's over the for US. But you make it sound like we are plenty powerful.

Sounds like the good country pool is getting smaller and smaller. Hmmm, what do you think about that?

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

americans began forcing the dependency on latin america during the 19th century and then started doing it to the rest of the world around world war 2; it accidentally started declining thanks to nixon and reagan unwittingly kicked it into overdrive. the power is still there but it's spread thin thanks to ukraine, taiwan, isreal, venezuela, colombia, cuba & mexico all happening at the same time; the world starting to distrust the united states because of its support for isreal despite the gazan genocide live-streaming on social media; and trump alienating the other colonial powers that have been trusted american allies until now.

your child-like characterization of countries as "good guys" or "bad guys" is one of the big reasons why westerners (especially americans) don't know why trump is in power, or why the other countries like the united states is embracing fascism, or why the united states power has been spread so thin and no one (not even lemmy) will learn it until people like you drop this child-like characterization and start reading books that aren't written by westerners.

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

your child-like characterization of countries as “good guys” or “bad guys” is one of the big reasons why westerners (especially americans)

Then by your logic, other countries without these "child-like" issues, shouldn't have a problem being self-sufficient and not depend on us. Because what does it say about these awesome non-western countries that are still so dependent on a child like us? :)

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

your logic is child like; the united states power is not.

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ok. So the United States is still a powerful country then. Right?

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

it's a powerful country that started to lose power sometime in the 1970's. the vietnam defeat was the first sign that it had lost some of its power and afghanistan has confirmed that it is still happening.

[–] DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today -3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

So you are saying we started losing our power 50 fucking years ago?! Um, seems we are still pretty powerful. I get it, you hate the US. I don't care. We are still the most powerful nation in the world and people are too afraid to try to make a go of things without us.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 46 minutes ago

it usually takes generations for an empire to decline and you've got it all wrong again; when you love something, you can see its flaws and recognize how to fix them.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.today -3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

How am I a troll by giving you information? I legit gave you links to news articles about it and even another lemmy post (posted by someone else) about it happening in California too. How is that trolling?

Given the shit job parents are doing around social media, it fully justifies a nanny.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.today -4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Which is what Lemmy loves though. Lemmy doesn't want anyone with different opinions to even be allowed on Lemmy. LMAO How ironic.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 44 minutes ago

I disagree. You should leave now. /s

Absolutely. 👍🏻
