What a spread at the end of the chapter. The break next week is gonna be rough to get through with chapters this hype

I was thinking the same thing, she's probably off researching something again.

There will probably be another gag when viewing something with Kaku and Stussy this time. With Kaku just stretching his neck and Robin popping out eyes somewhere and Stussy will be left alone unable to view.

Saturn just straight up requesting those evacuees to be sank. Stay classy Gorosei.

That flooded island with the dog barking better not be Chou Chou's island

Nice chapter, I'm wondering how they will stop the "Mother Flame"? It's basically like a Deathstar and with a weapon like this under their control, the rebellions in the One Piece world have no chance, especially if York makes more of them. Maybe Stella-Vegapunk will be essential in finding the weapon's weakness and destroying the energy source they would need to build more.

Also, was Saturn showing mercy to Bonney because "she is just a child"? This is an interesting statement from two angles: A Gorosei is showing some humanity (???) and additionally I'm wondering if Bonney is really just a child that turned herself into an adult with her powers.

I think they are saying that "she is just a child" as a way of she's not a threat.

Ain't no way Saturn got compassion. He straight up said murder all the evacuated citizens

I just thought, he could also just have said that to hide that he wants to keep her alive to use her power.

Not a bad idea!

Smoker not being shown as one of the nine Vice Admirals on the Marine fleet incoming is worrying to me.

We already got Tashigi doing nothing during Garp’s raid on Pirate Island. Is Smoker not even going to show up? Has Oda just stopped caring about those characters?

That reveal at the end was insane. It was so nice to see the Strawhats together and triumphant, presumably after having taken out the Seraphim. All that and they’re only a little dinged up.

I really hope we get flashbacks showing how they handled York and the Seraphim. I assume we will, but you never know sometimes.

What exactly are you worried about? We literally have Dadan and Iceberg in this chapter. Hiding Smoker and Tashigi seems to be very deliberate on his part.

[–] InvaderDJ@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’m worried that maybe Oda just doesn’t care to develop Smoker and Tashigi anymore and that what we got in Punk Hazard is all the spotlight they will get.

We did see Dadan and Iceberg, but that was just them reacting to other characters. I don’t want that for the Marine duo. I want them to actually be relevant characters.

But after not seeing them for years, Tashigi being irrelevant during the mission to Pirate Island is disheartening. And having a specific number of Vice Admirals explicitly called out for the Egghead mission and Smoker not being among them just adds another nail to that coffin.

I have complete trust in Oda getting Smoker and Tashigi into the mix. Just as I do that Magellan will still be back in the story.

They will be back. I owe you beers by the end of the story if this doesnt happen.

Smoker not being shown as one of the nine Vice Admirals on the Marine fleet incoming is worrying to me.

Doesn't the marine headquarter know that Smoker has shown to be soft towards Luffy a few times? I would find it weird if they send specifically him to attack Luffy. If Smoker appears then I would guess he is hidden on some ship or something like that.

[–] InvaderDJ@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It’s certainly possible that the Marines intentionally didn’t send Smoker because of their history.

I don’t think he’s the type of character to stow away like that. If he’s not officially part of the mission he would just go on his own I think.

Time will tell, but I’m not hopeful.

Thanks for the leaks

Always get excited for Kizaru

[–] Monkeydduffy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The panel with young Kizaru, Vegapunk and Sentomaru was very cute. I really wonder if Kizaru will still be "just following orders" by the end of the series.

Oh wow, would not have expected this plot twist.

Also nice to have a name for the ancient energy that was able to power the technology from the void century. The mother flame. Is it's origin from a female source?

[–] UtiAnimi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

"Mother flame" is the name of the weapon that destroyed Lulusia, and is known for a few chapters. Maybe I'm overlooking something in the chapter, but there was nothing in the chapter that connected this weapon to the technology of the void century? They only said the power station for the "Mother falme" weapon is on Egghead.

[–] splonglo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Damn Kizaru can eat noodles

Another break, gah. Great chapter though.
