MODERATORS
The US has Alamo Drafthouse, where you can covertly order food and drinks in your seats during the movie and they bring it to you like ninjas. It’s not super expensive since and it’s high quality (and sometimes messy) food. OH and if people are annoying or have their phones out, you can have them kicked out.
I really wish they’d expand into other countries.
I love Alamo but decided I'd never get any food from them other than popcorn again since it's nigh impossible to eat most of their food in the darkness of the movie theater. Still the only theater I go to tho
The “kick out annoying people and folks blasting you with their phone screens” sounds PERFECT for me
We have a Movie Tavern here, they've franchised in a lot of states, but they've embraced the idea of being a light restaurant along with a movie theatre. It's basically fast food quality, but you could get both of those there and also pick up some passable cocktails with it. The prices are not great, but they're comparable to a mid-range restaurant.
The tavern theater in my area used to have a really good fried wings. I'm not sure exactly when but the quality got significantly worse around the covid times while the price got higher enough that I didn't feel a need to return.
Same here, quality definitely had a drop during Covid. It's still fine in my location, but it has definitely gotten worse.
Alamo does the same, although I like their wings a bit better.
And yes, it's all steep for the quality no matter where you go. I liken it to a trip to Medieval Times, only the crowd, entertainment, and food are usually better.
The fries at the bottom of a movie popcorn sized container would get sweaty or soggy from drip drown grease. Gonna need that amount of fries, but on a wide shallow dish.

Trying to watch a movie while listening to someone gnaw on chicken bones sounds like hell.
There is no way that eating chicken is louder than eating popcorn. Plus people already bring outside food all the time. The last time I went, the person a row in front of me was eating spaghetti ragu.
That's why I smuggle in my own chicken wings.
Call me a fat fuck if you want, but I've brought a fried chicken bucket (from kfc or popeyes) to the movies many times, and still got the big popcorn and soda there as well. Also burger, kebab, pizza...
Don't know if you're fat or not, but that sounds like a delicious idea. Too bad outside food's banned in cinemas where I live.
I'm actually very fit lol, the envy of all my friends and family.
I think the theatres around here have rules against outside food too, but they don't pay their workers enough to go looking inside anyone's handbag/backpack/knapsack wink wink.
I can get wings and fries and a ton of other random things at the nearest AMC theatre to me. But, yeah, you think the popcorn and a soda are expensive? Try a movie theatre rotisserie chicken, pizza, or filet mignon.
The thing about this is movie theatres are usually targeted at the lower and middle class. This is a fianiancial trap if I ever saw one. You gonna feel gutsy one night order the bucket of wings, eat 1/2 and be fianancing that movie visit for years.
