Exodus 20:1-6 reads

“[1] And God spoke all these words:

[2] “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

[3] “You shall have no other gods before me.

[4] “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

[5] You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

[6] but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.”

My interpretation of these verses in regards to modern technology was inspired by Shabbat elevators designed to prevent practicing Jewish people from “creating sparks” on a day which their beliefs forbid that.

That's a bad interpretation. It literally says "you shall not bow down and worship them". Making an image is fine.

The "image" of [2] is not literal either. It's more in the meaning of creating something in some medium that would make people worth ship it

Note: I'm not religious but I'm still against bad representations

[4] and [5] are separate instructions. [5] also includes details of the consequences of not following these separate instructions. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bad interpretation because if everybody had perfectly good interpretations then there wouldn’t be multiple sects or schisms. I can interpret text as literal when it benefits my agendum and I can interpret text as figurative when it benefits my agendum. All interpretations are equally valid if one continues to not think too hard about it.

That last part makes it sound like a quote from hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, which I’m not entirely certain it isn’t

Never having existed, that's the ultimate form of damnation. Or maybe it's a blessing, who knows.

It's supposed to be a sticker on the trunk of your car, so you have a hard time bowing down to it. Also we catholics invented some math so it's alright. Worshipping the holy Mary, bowing down to Jesus on the cross, just no golden calfs.

Well, if it is true, that would explain a lot of our current issues. A lot.
