Brand spend millions to get their name in the face of people. Because, it works. You are not convinced to buy this brand, no. You just get used to it, so the familiarity with the brand make you more likely to purchase it when you see it

If you put a brand name on a forum. It is a paid advertisement. If you didnt get paid, you're a tool.

For five years, I’ve had a couple hundred items saved on camelcamelcamel, and I have never gotten an alert when the Prime Day sales happen. I do get them randomly throughout the year though.

Once you have created a customer base naive enough to pay you for the privilege of being locked in, you just have to milk them. Anything else would not make sense, economically.
