Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Plaid Cymru's education spokesperson Cefin Campbell MS said "not only is this a complete waste of money, it is an insult to our language".

"I cannot think of any valid reason to be spending such money every year, on preventing young people living in Wales from having the opportunity to learn the Welsh language.

Does pretending to be a complete idiot really win the votes though?

Why is he an idiot? He isn't insisting that these children go to an all-welsh school. He's saying that it's ridiculous to pay private-school fees for the sole purpose of avoiding 2 hours of Welsh a week.

Of course, the soldiers from Wales probably don't need this. It's aimed at the ones who have been sent there together with their families, from somewhere else in the UK. I wonder how many of those are officers.

A parent has a right to send a child to any legal school they want.

If a parent is forced by circumstance to live in a specific area then they shouldn't be forced to send their child to a school they believe is unsuitable.

In this case, if it were me I'd consider that forcing my child to spend X number of hours a week learning a language that is of absolutely no use to them an unacceptable waste of time.

Its even more unacceptable if the local schools don't even teach lessons in english

I agree its a massive waste of money though. It woild be significantly cheaper to directly employ teaching staff.

The answer is simple. Don't have children. There. Problem solved.
