Baths are fucking awesome though.

The only 3 arguments I've ever heard otherwise are:

  • Baths are for girls and gays

Already a nonstarter if I don't care about fitting into your fragile idea of masculinity

  • You just can't get clean sitting in a tub of dirty water

You're supposed to shower first. Baths are about relaxation, not cleanliness.

  • They're a huge waste of water

This is a fair and valid argument, but if you limit it to be a special treat once in a while, then it's really not that bad

Not really an argument against baths, but most of the bathtubs I've had as an adult were too small for me to comfortably bathe in.

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 4 points 3 days ago

That would only mean you should bathe more (in the sense of "amount of bath per bath"), not less.

[–] Godnroc@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That sounds more like the intended use of a hot tub.

[–] Godort@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago

Yeah, pretty much, but not quite as hot so you can sit in it longer, and it's not a social activity which is nice if you fall on the introvert side of things.

Our household of three uses so little water we are almost always charged the minimum amount and that's after my penchant for baths.

I love baths. I love bubble bath.

Cat also loves baths. Cat is dangerous. It adds to the ambiance of the bathing experience.

You're going to lose your mind once you discover hot tubs.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I always thought the idea was to shower after the bath. I don't like them either way but that is a personal decision and I do not have any real arguments against them.

In my family of origin, "bath" was somehow a general term that included taking a shower as one possible interpretation/implementation.

Did you also say "I go to the bathroom" instead of "to the toilet"?

[–] devdoggy@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I do. Absolutely. Saying that one has to go to a room always sounds better than saying that one, "has to use the toilet."

I was half joking. I think in most parts of the anglosphere it is common to go to the bathroom or restroom. I live outside the anglosphere where we are honest enough to call a thing by its real name.

[–] warbond@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

"Real name" is kind of a funny concept in this scenario

[–] devdoggy@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well, that's cool ( or, rizz? I'm not sure what the kids are saying).

Where do you live? Just asking b/c I don't want to live here any longer.

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This departed (or "abgefahren") here in Germany. If you're willing to adjust to that word and be honest about going to the toilet and you're neither from a Muslim country nor from Africa, you are very welcomed here!

[–] devdoggy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Hahaha! While I'm neither from a Muslim nor African nation, I don't think I would prefer Germany. But thank you!! I would like to visit Germany at some point!

When I was a kid my family had a book of classical art, in it was a series of paintings featuring nudes with titles like “sleeping bather on a rock” and for the longest time I thought bather (rhymes with gather) was some fancy pants art word for nude.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 6 points 3 days ago

I take off my clothes when I bathe so that checks out.

[–] abbadon420@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Depending on his skill level, he might be a master bather

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

but he was calling me a bather not the opposite

as a person who owns a bathtub, showers are better

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yeah my brother is the one who said "bro is a bather"

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Extra points if he said it "bath-r" with a short a.

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

well he gets the extra points
