Haven't seen the 90s version of Romeo and Juliet with DiCaprio and Claire Danes? My god it's the first time I truly understood the intricacies of the story. Anyway, they're rich kids with ludicrous, but practical, guns. Have a search for yourself. Or, hit the real sauce: https://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Romeo_%2B_Juliet
If I had the money, I've got loads of tackier mods in my book marks. Was afraid to bring this out in front of my friends because it's so silly. They shat bricks! Maybe they're tackier than I? :)
It's a Rock Island Armory .45. My wife's Filipino and my god do those people love 1911s and General MacArthur. No joke, they really do. When I first met her, I texted a long-winded, nerdy rant about the 1911 and Filipino history. She didn't reply for awhile. Thought I blew it being a gun nut.
Nickle plated all the black bits myself, and the mag now has a steel base-plate. Couldn't get the muzzle brake right, so it's plain stainless as well, and sloppily machined, best I could find. Makes zero difference in muzzle flip, only aesthetic. Added tritium front and rear sights. Feels great in the hand, shoots straight, eats any crappy ammo, much love.
Works great, but not quite as well as my Colt Government Model. (That's a joke for you Austrian folk.)
CAVEAT: Barrel doesn't work like a GI model, much more painful to disassemble, much more painful. Looked at converting it, not a good enough gunsmith ATM to attempt, but it can be done. Plenty doable, but I'm settling into an old movie and relaxing before taking it apart, not a field job.
EDIT: Didn't set up the rainbow pic, forgot how that happened. Looked cool so I moved the gun into place on the bench. That was at our tiny camp we have in a NW Florida swamp.
