Donald Trump’s 2013 Twitter account has launched a stinging attack on 2025 Donald Trump for allowing the government to shutdown.

Displaying remarkable prescience, 2013 Trump said that the failure to reach a deal on the US budget was always the fault of the President who is, in an incredible coincidence, himself.

Taking to Twitter, 2013 Trump rebuked the President, saying that such an epic failure was always the fault of the Commander-in-Chief, and he was making the country a “laughing stock” by not negotiating on the budget – insisting the guy at the top has to take the blame.

Past Trump followed this up with an interview with Fox & Friends saying that the guy at the top – in this case, himself – should definitely be fired. [...]

Satire doesn't always have to be fabrication or exaggeration. Sometimes, placing two parts of reality beside each other is enough to highlight hypocrisy and absurdity. The creatively embellished part is just that the past version isn't presently attacking the present one, just coming around like a boomerang he threw a decade ago and forgot about as quickly as he forgets about what he was saying.

Nobody owns Trump quite like past Trump.

Yeah, let's get old Trump back, new Trump sucks.

Then there's the last four years of him bitching about Biden 'weaponising the D.O.J. against political enemies' (namely, himself). Why is no-one highlighting that? You could find a quote from that cunt that contradicts pretty much everything he doing now. The hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug. It doesn't seem to make any difference to point it out. He just calls you 'nasty' if you do and there's no follow-up.

The democrats should be blasting this on loop, that clip of him on fox & friends, to get every news media outlet to cover it and getting opinion mouthpieces calling him to resign over it.

Push the dementia angle, "this is trump back then, look at him now, he can barely speak, let alone pass a budget, he's a vegetable".

Look Dems, I'll even advise for free, just to rid the world of the orange.

I disagree, though I confess I've thought similar things in the past and can't deny the appeal. But I've come around to accept that the Reps don't really care enough. The slugfest alone doesn't win voters. It just contributes to tribalism and the disillusionment with current politics as an immature slapfight.

Have non-politician social media do the blasting while the Democrats capitalise by making actually progressive policy assertions. I think the best way to win back non-voters is by showing that the alter alternative is actually better rather than just "not quite as horrible".
