A lot of the ethos here is captured by the Gemini protocol, basically a return-to-roots web 1.0 thing. Here's a portal to gemini and other similar protocols I posted a while back:

A very interesting read, thx for sharing.

His idea of getting back to basics and back to long lasting (and also, less demanding/less taxing) solutions is what motivated me to use 100% static and minimal HTML/CSS for my personal website. Among the points he lists, this idea of using a single page did not really cross my mind. It's something worth considering...

I also obsessively compress my images, well, the few I use. For that, I adopted the AVIF file format. It's first and foremost a video format and it requires a somewhat recent web browser to display the an image, but it also works wonders with static images, often much better than any of the dedicated image file formats.
