Let's remember Charlie Kirk for who he was.

"I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that does a lot of damage." -Charlie Kirk

Additional context, which only makes it worse:

The president then said he disagreed with Kirk on one thing. "He did not hate his opponents, he wanted the best for them," he said, prompting some laughs. "That's where I disagree with Charlie. I hate my opponents and I don't want what's best for them."

That’s an excerpt from BBC’s coverage. Trump also spewed hatred.

The President of the United States just admitted that he doesn't want what is best for half of his constituents (if not more). And that he hates them.

Cool stuff.

Him saying this feels unarguably "no taxation without representation" territory to me.

Most of them spewed some sort of hatred, some type of us vs them rhetoric (including Vance of course). But the most chilling was giving a platform to neonazi Jack Posobiec. His whole speech sounded like a Nazi/Templar call to war.

EDIT: and of course none of them mentioned the systemic problem of gun violence, or thousands of people dying like this every year. They politicized the event as much as possible to justify incoming crackdowns against dissent

But it’s the democrats who are raising the temperature of our politics. It’s liberals who are using divisive and dangerous rhetoric.

It’s all Obama’s fault for passing ACA without republicans. /s , but I went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out why conservatives think Obama was the one that started this, and it was a bunch of weak things like this. Or admitting that black people were mistreated by police.

Well he wasn't wrong, except it was his own people coming for him

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 week ago

He was wrong. It turns out maga on maga gang violence is what he ought to have been worrying about.

It's still not clear from what I've read. My impression is that he's the sort of person who does a mass shooting, but he decided an assassination would get more headlines.

Yeah, they're openly repeating nazi ideas, slogans, talking points, plans to eliminate their political enemies, etc...

It's because they're nazis, and willing to do every single thing that nazis were willing to do, and more.

I can't make it simpler than that. They are an extreme danger to all mankind right now.

"But is that a real quote?"

Fuck yeah, nazis are spreading this shit constantly. Every day constantly. Every state. Every city. Everywhere.
