I thought everyone needed to

If you were 18 and over you simply had to pass the test. Driver's education is ridiculously expensive ($400+). So, a lot of new drivers choose to wait until they are 18 to save money. Unfortunately, this is just another law to punish poor people. In my opinion, it really isn't going to make drivers any better. Most of the drivers on the roads know the laws, they just ignore them.

I see. Yeah I've had my license since I was like 16 or 17 so that's just how I thought it was.

I never took a class. I only read the book and took the tests. Although, this was in California

It should be taught in high school. Nearly everyone will have to get a driver's license

Skip the mandatory classes, just make the tests harder. They are insanely easy it's disgusting. Hardly anything I studied for in the book was actually on the test

Most already did, as Ohio already had a discount on new driver's insurance that took drivers ed classes. The discount helped absorb the cost of the classes over the first couple years.
