To be honest at first I was really on board with the French-made RPGs that take inspiration from Japanese RPGs and were actually made by a team of 30, but the genre seems overused. Currently looking for an Indian-made RPG that takes inspiration from French RPGs and was actually made by a team of 2.5 million. Game looks nice though

Community for CRPG games and other RPG gaming discussions. Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Baldurs Gate as well as indie RPGs (Underrail, Avernum, Space Wreck etc.). Focus is on CRPGs, but discussion around JPRGs, ARPGs and hybrid games with RPG components is also welcome.
Tabletop/pen & paper RPG discussion is not a good fit for this community. Check out !rpg@ttrpg.network for TT/P&P RPG discussions.
Memes are not banned, but the overwhelming focus is on discussions, releases and articles. Try and post memes (on an occasional basis) that would make people who don't like memes admit "OK! That was a good one!".

For me, French video games are associated with companies like Microids and games/series like Syberia, Post Mortem and Road to India.
I have played a good dozen of Microids games. I never really think about were a game publisher is located, however Microids in my head will always be associated with their game adaptations of French/Belgian comics like Asterix & Obelix
I would say I care less about the publisher, but the developer being from a given country can be interesting in terms of motifs and gameplay style.
A lot of Microids developed games have themes related to French culture. (Post Mortem, the Fort Boyard games). And of course Asterix & Obelix (never played the games even though I have most of the comics).
So... why does it present like a pseudo-FF pretty-prince(ss) in some Disney-perfect dreamland of MMO palette & micro-matte textures w/ pets & other YA theming?
