5 cars by T3 is something alright. I always felt he should have gotten a fairer shake at RB, but thatβs the meat grinder for you.

Race directors suck so frequently.
Probably a house made problem, given that FOM fired multiple directors a few years ago to cut costs. Good directors are very specialized TV production people, and therefore have a big money worth.
The race director has zero involvement in the broadcast.
Meanwhile the bandwidth coming from the cars is limited, and obviously telemetry and comms take priority. Each car has 5 onboard cameras, however there is bandwidth at the circuit for only 24 simultaneous channels of onboards. So the FOM broadcast director must choose one camera from each car at any one time, with headroom for 4 (next year 2) additional feeds carried live, for extra angles on key battles. All cameras record to memory card, and post-scrutineering that footage is downloaded and can be used for social media posts like this one.
