A couple people at work use the white/black emojis instead of the yellow. I don't know why, but it always seems weird to me that you took the extra time to select your race.

Sometimes we have those little epiphanies in the shower.. sometimes they come from other places. This is a home for those epiphanies.
Same here. I do see people use the white/black emoji at work. I also find it somehow strange and leave mine on the default yellow
On iPhone it auto-changes them to the skin color of your memoji. ๐๐ผ
Interesting, now I need to do some subtle questioning and see if they are iPhone users. I really appreciate the new knowledge and perspective!
I always feel a little weird in a work chat when folks have gone out of there way to select their exact skin tone and I'm just like, yeah yellow will do.
Because yellow is already the default for white.
The link is to an interesting half hour video essay by Lily Alexandre on this topic.

I was using the white skinned people emojis until it was changed and made the shirt color the same across all skin colors. I just liked the purple shirt more than green. Which is now on the separate female version emoji. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คทโโ๏ธ
They're also way the fuck down in the big list and have to be long tapped to change. I didn't even know you could do that for a hella long time.
it's a sign :3
Yeah I and all the other white people I know just use the yellow ones. That said I'm not gonna tell other people how to personally process their generational race trauma so.
I use some of the white ones. ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป All the rest are yellow.
